About Christ'l Sprengers
Christ’l Sprengers is a Belgian artist working across painting and sculpture. Her practice examines how images function when narrative and context are deliberately withheld.
Her paintings can be understood as accumulations of time rather than depictions of events. Built through slow, layered processes, the works record duration, hesitation and revision. Figures and objects appear isolated or displaced, creating images that exist in suspension between presence and absence.
By removing contextual anchors, Sprengers creates a deliberate sense of spatial and psychological openness. This absence is not emptiness but a constructed space in which meaning emerges through sustained looking.
Her sculptures extend these concerns into three-dimensional form, translating ideas of scale, isolation and ambiguity into physical space.
Sprengers lives and works in Belgium.
